New Picture Book Follows a Mouse’s Funny and Unexpected Journey

Children’s book author Mrs. D. shares a charming story of excitement, humor and adventure that takes readers to far-off places.

Galloway, NJ (PRWEB) October 20, 2011
Carlo the mouse lives a simple life in a Florida hospital, but always dreams of bigger things. "There must be more to life than a hospital," the plump, food-loving mouse and charming Mrs.D.’s character, thinks. The curious mouse has never been outside the four walls of his home and he has one unfulfilled wish – a Vacation. In this vibrant picture book titled "Carlo The Mouse on Vacation", young readers are invited to embark on a journey of the century with a daring mouse who takes center stage in an adventure bigger than his appetite. The book allows children to travel in their imaginations and promotes eagerness to see new things.
In a twist of fate, the nosy mouse unexpectedly finds himself on his adventures and misadventures by accidentally landing inside an opened car trunk, riding the wrong bus and boarding an airplane that takes him halfway around the world. Reminiscent of the successful animated film, Ratatouille, this book takes readers on a joyful ride to Paris, where the shrewd Carlo finds a way to survive the most unusual situations while dodging – or causing – mayhem along the way, touching readers’ hearts and making them laugh. Each new adventure teaches Carlo the mouse something about the real world and himself.
It also takes one-step back and shows that the best thing in life is self-discovery and there is nothing better than to like and be yourself. The book is written in a humorous style, easy to read for all types of readers. With funny characters and amusing illustrations by Juli Hasegawa, bursting on every page with colors and fun, "Carlo The Mouse on Vacation" gives parents, grandparents, baby sitters and those who love to read an interesting way for them to spend time together. The story allows young readers to self reflect and endorse individuality, and teach children not to lose themselves in today’s busy world.

About the Author
Olga D’Agostino was born in West Ukraine in 1959. She grew up in a small village without TV and toys learning about the world through books. Her hunger for reading made her imagination grow and as a young adult, she wanted to be a journalist. The economic situation in her country shattered her dreams and instead, she finished Business College and worked in the food industry. She left Ukraine in 1992 with two small daughters. Having no children’s books and limited English, she used to make up bedtime stories for her daughters. Overcoming her fears, she wrote a few children’s stories in English with the help of her husband Patrick and daughters Viktoriya and Veronika. She lives in Historic Smithville, New Jersey, loves animals, traveling and gardening. She continues to write other children’s stories, which she plans to publish in the near future. The Trees Have Hearts is another book, soon to be published.

THE TREES HAVE HEARTS - THE ENCHANTING STORY OF A YOUNG GIRL

“Authors are often advised to write about things they really know. This enchanting story of a young girl in a strange place and lost in a strange language, was written by a woman who lived it, and made of that experience a wonderful tale of beauty, peace and friendship."
               ~Joseph T. Wilkins"(author of two published books)

THE TREES HAVE HEARTS - book trailer

After you finish reading this book to your child, stop your busy life for a moment and take time for you and your child. Close your eyes and go to a special place, where everything is simple and pure. Cuddle with your child on the green grass or golden sand… stare at the beautiful blue sky… listen to the splashing waves… spin around in a blooming garden or talk to the whispering wind. Look around you and see what is important in life and to your child.
Stop and breathe… Be a child for a moment… Dive into their imaginary world where you can hide in the shadows of blossoming trees. There was a time when my curly-haired girl taught me how to see her world through her innocent green eyes.
Do not lose this precious time together; our children grow so fast and I believe that these special moments are given to us for a reason. Hug your children every chance you get; reassure them that they are loved. They have their worries and fears, ideas and solutions as we do. Right or wrong, our children need us to understand their imaginary world and to be present in their dreams. Try to listen and hear what they are hearing and see what they are seeing. Love simple things with an open heart and you will receive unconditional love. Teach your children, lead them through their life, but let them run free in their imaginary kingdom.
I had the privilege to see this imaginary world through the eyes of my little daughter and saved those moments in my memories forever. The curly-haired girl is running free in the blooming garden. Now, it is your time, and I will share my story you
